Oral history interview with Gustave Stern, Oct. 29, 1979.

Stern describes his youth in Germany, his emigration in 1933, and his nine-year stay in Paris. He arrived in the U.S. in 1942 and came to Seattle in 1945. Stern discusses his various roles in Seattle's musical life: music director of the Greater Seattle Parks Dept., voice teacher and opera conductor, and choir conductor at various Seattle synagogues. Stern discusses musical life in general and opportunities for young singers in this country and abroad.
